Water Pik Patents Tablet for Dental Cleansing

Designed to be placed in liquid inside an oral care device.

US Patent No. 11,596,587 B2 (Clifford Snyder); Water Pik, Inc., Fort Collins, CO, has patented a method of cleaning teeth that entails the use of a tablet containing a water-soluble abrasive having an average (Mv) particle size of 50 μm to 90 μm, and one or more of a binder, a bulking agent, a disintegrant, a glidant, a lubricant, a surfactant, a sweetener, and a flavoring agent. The method includes providing a liquid stream that flows from a liquid source through a hose to a tip from which the liquid stream is ejected. The tablet is placed in the liquid. It erodes, producing a suspension of particles in the liquid stream that clean the teeth.

Water Pik, which makes flosser and brush devices, is part of Church & Dwight.
